Large Pipeline & Tunnel Inspection Rafts

UVS Trenchless partners with CISCREA of Toulon, France for provision of highly configurable platforms providing all-in-one inspection solutions for large pipelines and tunnels.

These pipelines and tunnels are often partially flooded so that raft inspection systems provide the most cost effective way to conduct an inspection. Multiple cameras provide for HD video of above water features of the pipeline or tunnel. Laser scanning above water can be matched with sonar profiling below water for a complete digital image of the pipeline or tunnel condition.

Other components of the complete inspection system will include:

  • Winch and Winch Management System. Electric winches that enable management of long fibre optic umbilicals (e.g. 4,500m) can be provided.
  • Embedded Battery Packs. Battery packs and battery management systems provide for long endurance inspections without the weight of a heavy power-conducting umbilical
  • LED Lighting. Water tight LED lighting with parabolic guides for loan range lighting effectiveness
  • Surface Control System. Typically, laptop PCs will enable full control of the inspection system, together with monitoring, recording and real-time processing of inspection data
  • Specialised Sensors. Sensors can be added to the inspection system to suit the application and may include: gas (oxygen, combustibles, carbon monoxide & hydrogen sulphide) sensors; pressure, temperature & humidity; pH; airflow

All data produced by the sensors is time stamped and stored and data is then post-mission processed as required.  The time stamped data allows replaying the mission after the actual inspection. The Ethernet architecture allows an easy data exchange between different PCs or other software programs or applications.

Data fusion of profiler sonar and laser data can be completed with an AVI file generated. A theoretical circle profile can be displayed in order to visualise the pipeline or tunnel condition. Reports available will include:

  • Sediment profile
  • Bottom to vault section scan
  • High pile vault HD video record
  • Isolated defect still images

The MS (Multi-Sensor) Raft enables one-pass pipeline survey with real-time video and data fusion. PDF close out reports complete the inspection job and provide data for the customer.

 

The SV (Sonar-Video) Raft enables one-pass pipeline survey with real-time video and data fusion. PDF close out reports complete the inspection job and provide data for the customer.
